ANNUAL REPORT 2006
For 15 years, our attorneys have strategically and boldly used human rights tools, from the U.S. Constitution to the rulings of human rights bodies worldwide, to advance and protect every woman and girl’s right to freely make and act on her own reproductive choices.
In 2006, as in each year since 1992, we brought and won important cases, advanced advocacy and shared best practices, often collaborating with key partners to advance our goals.

ANNUAL REPORT 2005
Last year the Center’s relentless work on behalf of women led to significant human rights victories around the world. In 2005 we:
- Protected the rights of more than 38 million women through litigation in 19 states.
- Defeated the first-ever federal abortion ban before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
- Won the first abortion case ever considered by the United Nations Human Rights Committee.
- Stopped the Kansas attorney general’s attempt to require that all sexual activity of minors under 16 be reported to the state.
- Settled with the government of Mexico on behalf of Paulina, a 13-year-old rape victim. A Latin American government had never before acknowledged a rights violation in denying a woman a legal abortion.
- Blocked a virtual ban on second trimester abortions in Mississippi.
- Filed suit against the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its failure to make emergency contraception available over the counter to women of all ages.
- Organized a global dream team of reproductive and human rights experts to develop bold new strategies to promote reproductive freedom in countries around the world.

ANNUAL REPORT 2004
Since 1992, the Center for Reproductive Rights has shaped the course of reproductive rights law in the United States and around the world. We use high-impact litigation to ensure that all women have the right to make their own reproductive health choices, to have children, end a pregnancy, and use contraception. We work in partnership with advocates and organizations around the globe to pressure governments to live up to their obligations to women under international treaties.
Our mission encompasses all women’s rights—including adolescents’—to abortion, safe pregnancy, accurate health information, contraception, and prevention of practices harmful to women's health. We are not afraid to file groundbreaking legal cases in the United States and abroad that take on some of the toughest issues. We handle the largest caseload of any reproductive rights organization. We work to ensure that women’s human and reproductive rights are recognized, respected, and protected by the law.
