Since 1992 the Center has defined the course of reproductive rights law in the U.S. and around the globe. Here are a few recent highlights:
- We challenged the first-ever Federal Abortion Ban before the U.S. Supreme Court.

- We sued the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its failure to make the emergency contraceptive Plan B available without a prescription to women of all ages.

- We stopped the Kansas attorney general’s attempt to require that all sexual activity of minors under 16 be reported to the state.

- We reached a landmark settlement with the government of Mexico on behalf of Paulina, a 13-year-old rape victim. A Latin American government had never before acknowledged a rights violation in denying a woman a legal abortion.

- We won the first abortion case ever considered by the United Nations Human Rights Committee, and established that access to abortion, where it is legal, is a basic human right. The victory marked the first time an international human rights body held a government accountable for failing to ensure access to legal abortion services.
