New Report Documents the Gag Rule’s Devastating Effects on Unsafe Abortion in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and Peru

Learn More about GGR

At a breakfast briefing on October 22, women’s health experts from Kenya and Peru will discuss the devastating effects of the Bush Administration’s gag rule on women and reproductive health advocates in their countries. At the event, the Center for Reproductive Rights will release Breaking the Silence: The Global Gag Rule’s Impact on Unsafe Abortion, a new report that gives a voice to non-governmental organizations in countries where the gag rule has impeded efforts to slow down spiraling rates of unsafe abortions. The report is a comprehensive survey of the rule’s impact on gagged organizations, and contains anonymous quotes from the health professionals, advocates, and government officials who are silenced by this policy.
