Dear Friend and Supporter,
Q: What's the matter with Kansas? A: Under Attorney General Phill Kline's interpretation of a Kansas statute, a teenager who discloses to his therapist that he's "made out" with his girlfriend could have to be reported to the state! And on February 7, the European Court of Human Rights heard oral arguments in a landmark case involving a Polish woman who was left almost blind because doctors refused to provide her with a legal, medically necessary abortion. The Center filed a friend-of-the-court brief in this case. Click here to read more about it > >
On January 25, we launched an Arabic section of our website. It serves as one of the few online resources for reproductive rights information in Arabic. Click here to visit the website > >
If you happen to be in New York on March 3 and 4, come check out the Center in action. We are hosting a symposium at Columbia Law School that will explore the different ways in which the protections for equal rights in the Constitution can be used to defend reproductive rights. And, we have a new Spanish-language book, the first publication of the Red Alas network, a Latin American network of law professors that aims to reform legal education in the region from a gender perspective. We support and take part in this network. Click here to read about Beyond the Law: Justice and Gender in Latin America >
