06.30.09 - Christina Zampas, senior regional manager and legal advisor for Europe at the Center, was quoted in IPS News in an article about new legislation in Slovakia that will restrict women’s access to abortion. Under the legislation, women will only be able to obtain an abortion two days after they have been given official advice on the "risks and alternatives" of the procedure by their doctor.
"This runs against a worldwide trend of liberalization of abortion laws which reflect the fact that creating barriers to abortion does not reduce abortion numbers, it merely endangers women’s health and rights," said Zampas.
