Genevieve Scott

Genevieve Scott, Senior Staff Attorney

Genevieve joined the Center in 2014 and is responsible for litigating reproductive rights cases. She first worked at the Center from 2009-2010 as a legal fellow.

Prior to rejoining the Center, Genevieve served as a law clerk to the Honorable Helene N. White of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Genevieve previously served as an attorney at the ACLU of Michigan, where she provided assistance to abortion providers facing a new TRAP law and developed a case against the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops challenging the denial of abortion care at a Catholic Hospital.  Genevieve has also served as a fellow at the Program for the Study of Reproductive Justice at the Information Society Project at Yale Law School, where she authored an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court arguing that patents on gene sequences associated with breast and ovarian cancer undermine women’s rights to decisional autonomy, bodily integrity, and procreation. Genevieve has also worked as an intellectual property litigation associate at Mayer Brown LLP. 

Genevieve holds a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she was a Dean’s Merit Scholar. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Smith College with a B.A. in English Language and Literature.
