Yara Calcaño

Yara Calcaño, Legal Assistant for Africa and Latin America & the Caribbean

Yara joined the Center in 2015 and is responsible for providing administrative and research support to the Africa and Latin America & the Caribbean teams.

Yara received her B.A. in cultural anthropology from Rutgers University, and minored in Latin American studies and psychology. Her undergraduate honors thesis, Claiming Citizenship: Modernity and performance in urban Cochabamba, focuses on access to water and basic needs in Bolivia and the efficacy of democratic local water committees in gaining access to and managing water for the impoverished communities they serve.

Yara’s is fluent in Spanish and proficient in French.
